Synopsis

Album Description
A blend of folk, blues, and rock. Born in Hawaii and raised in Alaska, Kalai, despite a permanent injury in his left hand, learned guitar by watching his father, Danson, a Hawaiian music icon who's performed with Eric Clapton and Van Morrison. Kalai's vibe has been likened to Dave Matthews, Ben Harper, Lenny Kravitz, James Taylor and Prince. Kalai's vocal and guitar skills, combined with bassist Eric Wallengren and drummer Rick Sinese, make a trio of unequaled intensity. Crows Feet is Kalai's fourth album. The other three albums were independent productions handled directly by Kalai, on his own. He has maintained success due to his talent and ability to connect with his audience. Accomplishments include songs used for feature films, national sold out performances and steady sales of his previous releases.

"Depending on my mood, I love any and all of Kalai's recordings. I was at the CD release concert for Crows Feet and couldn't get enough. I love to sing and am amazed at his vocal range and quality. I can hit all the lows but not all the highs. Don't waste time trying to categorize. Just enjoy, feel. Kalai is not Ben Harper, Jack Johnson, etc. I love Ben Harper but his bag of guitar tricks doesn't compare to the chops of Kalai. Jack Johnson is great but he's no Kalai."

"I have this album as well as the Acoustiscm album. Love that one. Not this one. Crows feet is just so....cheesy. Poppy. I mean, talent - yes. Passion - yep. But....there were moments...ouuus and ahhhs and or chord progressions or the way an instrument was played that just made me cringe. Not to mention how starkly different this album is from the other. If you love Acoustisim, maybe download a song or two from this album before you buy it."
