Kajagoogoo is awesome and underrated
ED | Windsor, CT USA | 09/19/2003

"i love this band is one of my favorite bands of all time. i was not around in the 80s infact when too shy came out i was not born until a year later. but i am a big punk and new wave fan. and i feel this cd is awesome. Thank to another new wave band duran duran member nick rhodes and Limahl of the kajagoogoo the world got to see this wild hair band on mtv. i love all the songs of kajagoogooo and Limahl. i love too shy of course who doesn't!? ooh to be ah had a unique danceable song to it. hang on now is a perfect song if u want a song for a slow dance. Turn ur back on me i love definatly its very danceable (even though i think the band turned ther back on Limahl because he was the reason they were famous to begin with along wit nick rhodes of duran duran) Limahls solo career was awesome too. he had more success than the band did after his departure. if u want classic new wave music get this cd."
Silly Name, but Amazing Talent

"They are actually a good group with an 80's sound. Think of it this way, if these songs were to be done by any of today's pop bands, the sales would be through the ceiling. In terms of musical arrangement, Kajagoogoo is just as good as they come. The lyrics either deal with fantasy theories or women, and the Kajagoogoo sound is personified by start-stop off-beats with spacey synths, all accompanied by Nick Begg's superb slap bass. Limahl has an excellent, if almost lady-like voice. Electronic drummer Jez Strode has a powerful, yet speedy percussion technique that gives the band an echo-like reverb feel. However, they really only have about 6 good songs,(Ergonomics, Monochromatic, Frayo, White Feathers, Too Shy, and Magician Man) most of them not included on this album."
Only for the fans

"KAJAGOOGOO was one of my two favourite bands as a teen.
Maybe because of this superb dance song: Too Shy, which
I consider the best dance song by a British band in the
80's. I also consider Limahl's voice to be brilliant
(though I don't really think very high of him as a person).
The singles here are as good as they come (though the
re-mixes are full of ...).Hang On Now is the definition
of a simple but lovable pop song. The tracks on their
2nd LP are more powerful but Nick's voice is ....?!?!Shouldn't Do That says it all for itself.
You know, I always thought that a band who writes a song
about civil rights violation in Poland (Frayo)and has a guy
like Limahl singing it, really shouldn't expect to be
taken seriously (apart from the funny name).
Limahl's effort just about reaches mediocrity (I never
even understood the affect The Neverending Story had
on people). I like this track from his solo LP though,
Tar Beach (not included here).
Nick Beggs is one hell of a bass player (I even got used
to his strange, uncommercial voice after a while). He
proved it collaborating in a another project called
ELLIS, BEGGS & HOWARD. Their track Big Bubbles, No Troubles
is really brilliant club music. I'm a fan, I already have
this. If you're a fan buy it. If not, I'm sure there's a collection in your discotheque including Too Shy and
that's all you need to know."
