"I first listened to this on vinyl in the early 60's. According to the jacket, these 4 singers met to record backing vocals for Elvis Presley. As they warmed up, they jammed vocally, singing all the tunes they knew.



Audio engineers were floored at the mingling of voices, and recorded them. This album is the result.



Listen to the power of the individual voices, listen to the tight chromatic harmonies, the unusual chord extensions, the text painting and the unabashed celebration of spirit.



You like vocal jazz? This is the genesis and perhaps the best example I've heard."

"The Jubillee Four were without question the greatest close-harmony gospel and spiritual group. The chords these four guys produce are incredible, and their timing is amazing. As far as I am concerned they are miles better than other groups such as the Golden Gate Quartet, who were much more famous. This CD is absolutely thrilling."
