Synopsis

Product Description
George Kahumoku, Jr., one of Hawai?i's best-loved slack key guitar artists, performs twelve of his favorite Hawaiian songs on his new CD, "Nä ?Ano?ano: the Seeds." Each song has a history and a special meaning for George, which he explains in his liner notes. Ho?okupu was written by George, while he was up at the volcanoes, right when the crater began to erupt. Pua Carnation is a beautiful song beloved by kama?aina and mainlanders alike. It evokes visions of Hawai?i as it was from the 1920's through the 40's. George's love of good food is celebrated in the popular eating songs, He ?Ono and Aloha Ka Manini. Naturally, George's affection for hula led him to include Pane Mai and Waikä. Listen to George Kahumoku Jr.'s "Nä ?Ano?ano: the Seeds", and you will hear the heart of a true Hawaiian! Artist Notes: Many of the mele (songs), created and sung here were chosen because of their ability to transform from seed to harvest one's ?uhane (spirit), kino (body), and mana?o (thought and values), and one's sense of place. May we all continue to hö?ano?ano, or plant many seeds within our lives to strengthen our ?uhane, kino, and mana?o, and those of the next generations. - George Kahumoku, Jr.
