CD Reviews

INCREDIBLE!

"If you play bass or even if your just a fan of adventurous music-this is one for your collection. Highly recommend it, you won't be dissapointed!"
Similar to Oteil? I think not.

"Wow, I absolutely cannot BELIEVE people are comparing this guy to Oteil Burbridge. For those unfamiliar, Joseph had a stint with Aquarium Rescue Unit (while Oteil was fulfilling other touring obligations). I had heard some reviews of Joseph and thought, wow - he must be good! After all, Oteil left some serious shoes to fill... Then I read some reviews of Joseph. I was really anticipating something great.... and then I heard his stuff. All I can say is that when I started actually hearing what Joseph sounds like - I was astounded. His family & friends must have been writing his reviews, because his playing can be summed up by one word - "goofy". He uses the same old tired tricks people started using to overshadow the musicality of their playing in the late 80's and now young high-schoolers across the country use. Over and over and over and over.....Why he got the ARU gig I will never know, but I would definitely save my money and get some serious albums with great bassists like Richard Bona's 'Reverence' or Alain Caron's 'Call Me Al' where the musicality and technicality blend very well. However, if you'd rather listen to someone that sounds like a frustrated high-school kid who just discovered the magic of over-tapping and cheesy-slapping, buy this guy's stuff."
