Pleasant 55, Outstanding 100 and 101

"Thank God for Amazon's Marketplace. This CD features two great Haydn performances, Numbers 100 and 101. The Military Symphony performance is outstanding but the Clock is one of the best Haydn recordings I have ever heard. Compare this Clock to the more famous Colin Davis recording and you will hear the difference. The Davis recording is perfectly played but without any fun. Wallberg, on the other hand, really enjoys the music and brings out all the little jokes that Haydn was famous for. A truly great recording. As for No. 55, it is played by a different orchestra and conductor and the results are not very good. It is pleasant but that is it. At the Marketplace price, it is still worth the money for 100 and 101."
