Synopsis

Product Description
Joseph Elliott is known in Jamaica for his stage presence and powerful voice, which is reminiscent of Michael Jackson in terms of pitch. His style is reggae-pop: easy-listening reggae music and love songs with a positive message and good vibes. In October 2010, Joseph's debut album Rescue Me was released in Jamaica and is getting significant airplay on all the major Jamaican radio stations. Joseph co-wrote all the tracks on Rescue Me with his eldest brother, Kerron. This songwriting duo had previously been one-half of a boy band called Four-in-One that won several singing competitions in Jamaica. On his debut album, Joseph writes and sings about being a young man dealing with the every day struggle of making a living and finding love. So In Love With You (track #1) was the first single released to Jamaican radio in the summer of 2010 and was extremely popular from the start. It is a love song with a reggae beat and a catchy hook. When the full album was released in Jamaica in October 2010, I'm Sorry (track #3) immediately took over as the most requested song. I'm Sorry is about begging for forgiveness after getting caught by a lover doing something wrong. There is a fun, animated music video of I'm Sorry on YouTube where Joseph is chased by a tiger through the woods and a shark in the ocean. Check it out! In addition to songs about love and relationships, the album includes roots songs, such as Where You Gonna Run (#2) and What Happened To Those Days (#5), which are powerful social commentaries on the state of things in Jamaica, in the world at large, and in the human spirit. The title track Rescue Me (#4) is not a reggae song but a guitar ballad and, in that sense, is reminiscent of Bob Marley's Redemption Song with lyrics about growing up poor in Jamaica. There is music video of Rescue Me on YouTube shot in Kingston and Joseph's hometown of Treasure Beach on the south coast of Jamaica. Taking Back My Love (#6) is a song about being betrayed by a lover and is very popular in Jamaican clubs. Crying Over Me (#7), Heart Of Love (#8), and Trying (#9) are all love songs. Each song covers a different element of love: breaking-up, gratitude, and not giving up. Joseph's lyrics take the listener on a ride into his world of relationships, emotion, and love. Track #10 is a reggae-rap remix of Where You Gonna Run with the rapper Jay-Double who throws down his American rap-style on topics such as getting set up by hustlers and the downfall of a party girl.
