Excellent guitarist and vocalist

(5 out of 5 stars)

"This CD includes 16 of Jose's Greatest Hits from his years with RCA. It is a great collection of songs by an artist who is still around after nearly 40 years in the music business. In this album you will find atleast seven of Jose's greatest songs known all over the world such as Light My Fire, his breakthough smash hit and beautiful and timeless classics as Rain, Destiny, California Dreamin, First Of May and ofcourse his 70's classic Chico And The Man. If you love Jose's amazing skill as a guitarist than you will be spellbound when you listen to Malaguena, one of the great classical instrumentals of all times and Feliciano as usual does a superb job playing this piece who is extremely difficult and intricate. In this collection you will also find Che Sera a song that Feliciano recorded in 1971 in spanish and won first place at the San Remo International Music Festival in Italy also in 1971. This however is the italian recording of the song that he did while his triumph performance in that country. Although he does a very nice job of the italian version I prefer the spanish original version. His vocal on this song (in spanish) is truly amazing. Another song that I love and is also a Feliciano classic is No Dogs Allowed, a tune that he wrote about the many problems he endured in 1967, to gain entry to England with Trudy, his seeing-eye dog at the time due to severe quarantine restrictions. This by far is not the complete Greatest Hits collection of the fantastic Jose Feliciano but it's a great album to start to get to know 16 great songs from Feliciano's amazing career beginning in 1964. Jose Feliciano who in case you didn't know is blind since birth has been a musical genius since the age of nine and is still going strong. He continues to record English and Spanish albums and has never stopped touring all around the globe."
