Hill's got what it takes--except the right break
Dannielle Tinder | Genesee, PA USA | 12/01/2000
(4 out of 5 stars)

"Before Christina Aguilera and Jessica Simpson(I'm leaving Britney Spears and Mandy Moore out of that group, because frankly, they don't have the vocal prowess to qualify for inclusion), there was Jordan Hill. With an exceptional voice that posessed maturity far beyond her years(she was only 17 at the time of the album's release), she clearly owned the potential to go far beyond what was actually acheived with this record. It is that talent, in fact, that is the saving grace of this otherwise traditional paint-by-numbers romp through prepackaged, AC friendly hits. Unfortunately, those tracks never became famous, due to the impeccably poor timing of her record label, choosing to release this album in an industry that was still reeling off of Pearl Jam and Nirvana's tortured-grunge rock. In light of that, it's not terribly difficult to see how this album--and more importantly, its star--got lost in the shuffle. What is even more of a shame, is that it is probable that if Ms. Hill were to release a new album tomorrow, she would be compared to Christina Aguilera, despite coming 3 years before her. That truly is a shame--Hill had, and still has, a vocal presence that deserves to be immortalized on more than a forgotten 1996 debut. Hopefully she will resurface once again and demonstrate that yes, Virginia, there is indeed a young female singer out there who can do just that--SING."
Great Voice, Good Songs, excellent album

"{I wrote this review in hope to raise more awareness of a wonderful singer - Jordan Hill.}The debut album of Jordan Hill is a commendable one. It contains a good mix of soulful ballads and uptempo songs of which Jordan Hill sizzles in both. All the songs are good, of which several are cover songs (e.g.Too Much Heaven). Some of the noteworthy songs include "Remember Me This Way, How Many Times, I Just Had To Hear Your Voice". Besides the good songs in the album, Jordan Hill's voice itself is a enjoyment to listen : sensual, delicate yet powerfully soulful too. In fact, Jordan Hill has one of the best female voices in the diva arena. While Jordan Hill can be likened to other pop princesses like Britney Spears or Christina Aguilera, she actually came out much earlier than them. Yet in terms of popularity, she seems to garner little ground. It's a REAL pity that her record company did not promote her more. Given her good-girl image (ala Jessica Simpson)and superb voice, she could have had a big career.VERDICT: This album is a MUST-HAVE if you're into female pop singers."
A Young, Talented, Overlooked Singer
Terence Allen | Atlanta, GA USA | 02/09/2005

"Jordan Hill was ahead of her time when she released her debut CD. It came out before Britney, Christina, Hilary, Jennifer, and all of the young, beautiful female singers hit the scene.

For The Love of You is great, and did not get the airplay or DJ support it deserved. Do yourself a favor and buy this CD. You won't regret it."
