CD Reviews

The Final Frontier
Daniel R. Greenfield | Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States | 01/17/2001

"Jonn Serrie is a composer with a vision, and that vision is SPACE: the awesome majesty and mystery of the cosmos. This album has not only defined what deep space music is, and what it must be, but it has set the standard very high indeed. All of the tracks on this album are memorable, but the best is surely the last one, On a Frontier of Fables. This piece is an extended excerpt from "Aniara", a production of the Bishop Planetarium in Bradenton, FL. Majestic, dark, and sweeping are just some of the words that describe this cosmic music from the depths of space and time. Be sure to turn off the lights when you listen to this one!"
Cruising the galaxy

"Vol II makes me wish Jonn Serrie would make a Vol III but II is going to be hard to equal much less exceed. Vol II made me forget about Vol I but that's not to say it isn't an excellent work also. My personal favorite is "Vista Range" but all the songs are good. If you're into astronomy this will really add a new dimension to it. "First Night Out" gives me the feeling of exploring the solar system on my way out to deep space and with a little imagination that's where this CD will take you."
Somewhere out there

"I have just discovered Jonn Serrie!! This has to be on of the finest recordings of space music I have found. I feel as if I have been transported to the far reaches of the universe and back again. When I listen to this, I feel all the tension of the day completely melt away, as if there was not a bone in my body. I love to turn out the lights, put on my headphones and drift off in to space, and let the music surround me. Vol 1 is a wonderful companion to this one. Get them both ....and all of his others too. You won't regret it."
