Stories from Satellite is the debut release from Jon Kelby. The songs on satellite were written over a period of about ten years, in and between different cites, including Chicago, Tokyo, San Francisco, New York, Amsterdam, and Nurnberg. It is a travel log of a satellite, disconnected, searching, traveling. In July of 2001 in Brooklyn, Jon met producer/ musician Shannon Fields ( The Silent League, Stars Like Fleas). This led to the collaboration that brought the songs on Satellite to life. An amazing group of musicians appeared on this album. The basic guitar, piano and all vocal tracks were performed and written by Jon. Shannon Fields performed additional guitar tracks, as well as clarinet and electronic tones, beeps, etc. Gerald Menke ( Mercury Rev, Super Furry Animals, Babe the Blue Ox, Marc Gartman) added pedal steel, bass and dobro sounds. Jon Natchez ( The Silent league, Skavooie, Brendan Benson, The Either/ Orchestra, The Panthers) played Alto and Tenor Saxaphones, and bass. Andrew Barker (Gold Sparkle Band, Tara Jane O?Neal, Thurston Moore) added percussion and drum tracks. Wade Hampton ( Winterville) played upright bass. Jon lives in Philadelphia, and is working on songs for his next record.
