CD Reviews

I WANNA TESTIFY! This is a STAX OF WAX essential!

"I believe it was 1968 or 1969 when I heard "Who's Making Love" on the AM dial of my car. It was the era of Sam and Dave, Aretha Franklin, and many others. The groove is GREAT. One of the best party songs of all time. If you are into the great, pulsing sounds of sixties soul, such as Otis Redding, Isaac Hayes, Sam & Dave, and a rhythm section second to none, this is for you. One of the most under-rated artists of the era."I Wanna Tesify" is classic soul, the great Memphis sound, and it continues with "Take Care Of Your Homework". While not a great smash, it was heavy rotation on the R&B Stations."Jody's Got Your Girl And Gone" is another favorite, but I could go on all day!. This is NOT your DISCO LADY Album, (thank you!!), this is the REAL Johnnie Taylor.Hey it has "Cheaper to Keep Her" to! If its good enough for the BLUES BROTHERS, ts good enough for me!.A good price, a cheaper than the identical imports. HIS FIRST ALBUMS ARE ALSO RECOMMENDED. Quality is excellent, and you will not be dissapointed."
A must have for all R & B fans everywhere.

"Few people realize that Johnnie Taylor was a Sam Cooke protege. After Sam left the gospel group "The Soul Stirrers", he hand picked Taylor to take his place. It was a great choice. He not only filled some pretty big shoes, he went on from there to do a great job in the R & B field. I would recomend this album of hits in a heartbeat."
Classic Johnnie Taylor
