Album Description

Maine native John Neal has released his debut recording of original electronic music -- keyboard-based and highly personal new age music, Fox Island Afternoon is a collection of songs ranging from highly melodic and lyrical piano pieces to hard-driving electronic and synthesizer rock anthems. This debut CD includes original space music and also showcases Maine vocalist Shawna Haley in a moving performance of the original pop ballad A Promise To Come.

"I bought this album from the Artists website and it is great. This is what contemporary classical / New Age music is all about. this is what Beethoven would have written if he had owned a Korg keyboard.Fox Island Afternoon is charged with emotion. The music creates atmosphereic landscapes and ranges from extremely powerful and driving to soft and romantic.John Neal's skills as a composer set him a level above most popular New Age artists and I think this would appeal to a much wider audience. This is not the waterd down stuff the New Age community seems to be big on these days.Shawna Haley, who sings solo on one of the songs has a powerful voice and I wouldn't be surprised to see her doing more solo stuff in the near future.To break it down - if you like well written, well performed, well mixed music - get this album."
