CD Reviews

I had already purchased "Remembrance"...

(5 out of 5 stars)

"...but bought this Canadian import as well. You might wonder why as there are only two different vocal tracks, but those who know and love the voice of John McDermott MUST have every song he sings in their collection. I was not disappointed. Not only were "A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square" and "A Scottish Soldier" well worth having, the instrumental medley on the first track is beautiful. I am also able to keep one cd in my car and the other in my home! John McDermott is blessed with the most beautiful, melodious tenor voice I have ever heard. It warms the heart and soothes the soul and this lovely tribute to the veterans of war is one of his best efforts. John doesn't just sing about the tragedies of war, he does something about it. He is a strong supporter of the causes of veterans in both the US and Canada and is founder of a facility for homeless veterans in Washington, D.C. - McDermott House. He is, as well, a warm and friendly individual and it was my pleasure to meet him in Los Angeles in September. If you must choose between this cd and "Remembrance", you can't miss either way, but if you are able, and want to hear everything John has recorded, buy this one too. You won't be disappointed."
