With Ridiculous Empire, Amen more expansively employs free association, deep imagery, and impressionistic portraiture, delivering epic lyrics via infectious melodies. Also present in this release is a greater attention to instrumental layering. The use of electric and acoustic guitars, mandolins, strings, organs, back-up vocals, and various effects all contribute to creating soundscapes that beautifully complement Amen's voice and phrasings.
