"The famous Strauss waltz Wiener Blut is here, and it benefits from a performance where all the repeats are observed. A far less famous waltz, Promotionen, is also included on this 76 minutes CD. It has the most solemn introduction of any Strauss waltz known to me. One of the many gains that comes with an exploration of this complete Johann Strauss Jnr edition is the opportunity to hear the relatively neglected quadrilles that formed a large part of the composer's output. There are two here, and they display high spirits and ingenuity aplenty. Johannes Wildner and the Czechoslovak orchestra are in good form here and, as usual in this series, the recording quality and the annotations are excellent."
