This was the coolest surprise i've come across in years!

"Not knowing anything about Phelps, i was urged to buy this from a record store owner who swore by it. He was right. This stuff is amazing."
A sad, cathartic album.

"Joel Phelps, or The Downer Trio if you'd like, writes (write) music with such a lack of restraint that it is, at times, almost violating to listen to. A "must have" for anyone who appreciates a good, sad song and is growing bored with tasteful, often homogenous, lo-fi indie-rock. This album is sensitive to song structure without being afraid to "belt-out" a line or two from time to time as well."
