CD Reviews

BETTER THAN Diffie's GREATEST HITS ALBUM
CF | Denver, CO, USA **== | 11/30/2002
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This cd had it all:
1.Home-a great song describin' Diffie's home 2.If You Want Me To- an okay song, a slow one

3.If The Devil Danced (In Empty Pockets)- a funny song that is a classic #1

4.New Way (To Light Up An Old Flame)- I love this one, an uptempo love song

5.Is It Cold In Here- a nice slow tempo song

6.Ships That Don't Come In- a moving song about heroes that wait for "ships that don't come in"

7.Honky Tonk Attitude- this song will give you a friday-night get-right honky tonk attitude!

8.Prop Me Up Beside The Jukebox (If I Die)- one of his best, another funny song about what he wants IF he dies:
"Prop me up beside the jukebox if I die
Lord I wanna go to heaven but I don't wanna go tonight
fill my boots up with sand put a stiff drink in my hand
prop me up beside the jukebox if I die"
9.John Deere Green- another funny one, about a boy writing on the town water tower in john deere green to show his love:
On a hot summer night "He wrote Billy Bob loves Charlene
In letters 3ft high
And the whole town said that he should have used red
But it looked good to Charlene
In John Deere Green"
10.Third Rock From The Sun- another funny one, it'll get you dancing about the crazy happenin's on Earth!:
"'Cause and effect, chain of events
All of the chaos makes perfect sense
When you're spinning round, things come undone
Welcome to Earth 3rd rock from the Sun"
11.Pickup Man-a hilarious one, I'd like to see other great songs by whoever wrote this! about somethin' women loike about a guy with a pickup truck, a hilaroius chorus:
"You can set my truck on fire, roll it down a hill
But I still wouldn't trade it for a Coupe DeVille
It's got an eight foot bed that never has to be made
You know if it weren't for trucks we wouldn't have tailgates
I met all my wives in traffic jams,
You know there's something women like about a Pickup Man"
12.So Help Me Girl- a nice slow ballad
13.Bigger Than The Beatles- another great lyriced song that made #1:
"They got a love bigger then the beatles
Wild and free like a Rolling Stone
They got a love takes 'em higher then the Eagles
Ain't life such a sweet, sweet song
Na, na, na, na, na, na
Na, na, na, na, na, na
Na, na, na, yeah, yeah, yeah"
14.Texas Size Heartache- my favorite Song! I like the chorus;
"She put a hurt on this old cowboy, broke my heart like a little play toy,
Brought me to my knees from ten feet tall,
The night she left me in Amarillo, I cried crocodile tears in my pillow,
The bigger they are, the harder they fall,
How could a blue-eyed beauty only five foot three,
Lay a Texas size heartache, on me"15. A Night To Remember-a great song about a night to remember: "Dim the lights, lock the door, spread your pictures
On the floor, throw the dust off of our past let it
All come floodin' back, cause' it ain't easy being
Strong and when I can't forget your gone I just
Surrender, and have myself a night to remember."16.It's Always Somethin'-another song with great lyrics that has a catchy tune:
"It's always somethin' every day remindin' me.
Everywhere I go, there's a memory.
Ready and awaitin' to catch me off guard,
There's no way to prepare my heart.
What I wouldn't give, what I wouldn't do.
If only I could just stop missin' you.
I'd let go of our love, like it was never nothing.
But it's always something."OVERALL THIS CD IS TERRIFIC, but one bad thing is that there is no lyrics or anything good in the cd booklet!
ANYWAYS this cd deserves more than 5 stars!"
The most underrated artist in country music!

"There's no denying that Joe Diffie has a wonderful and unique voice. I've seen him in concert and met him eight times in the past seven years. The enthusiasm and energy he and his band (Heartbreak Highway) put into the show is amazing. I just wish he would receive more recognition than he gets. He's very talented and down-to-earth!There are many memorable songs on here like, "Ships That Don't Come In," "Is It Cold In Here," "So Help Me Girl," "A Night To Remember" and "Texas Size Heartache." Then, there are some fun, upbeat ones, like "Honky Tonk Attitude," "Pickup Man," "Third Rock From the Sun," "Bigger Than The Beatles," "Prop Me Up Beside The Jukebox" and the catchy "It's Always Somethin'."This CD and any other album by Joe are highly recommended to all country music fans!"
One of my all-time favorite country hits collection

"Joe Diffee's songs hit at your heart, with his songs about going home again, lost loves, and just "hangin' out". This CD contains the stirring "Night to Remember", which is destined to become a classic. "Night to Remember" is truly one of the saddest, yet most beautiful country songs I've ever heard. This CD contains his good time songs and soulful ballads. I always considered the great Mac Davis to be the godfather of country soul, but "Regular Joe" may have dethroned Mac of that title. I listen to this CD virtually everyday on my drive home from work, and I've owned it almost 6 months. If you enjoy country or southern rock style music, I recommend this CD be added to your collection."
