"It's hard to believe the mega-label EMI is actually responsible for this careless production. The title is completely misleading--whether it's meant to refer to Stafford's most popular recordings (only "Candy," her first hit single, might qualify), or her best (such as "Haunted Heart"). Moreover, a collection of Stafford recordings calling itself "The Best Of" that omits "You Belong to Me" is guilty of not merely deceptive but false advertising.



The niggardly total of 10 songs (some very questionable choices at that) and under-30 minutes of recording time are additional reasons to avoid this one at any cost (it's not worth the postage and handling fee). But perhaps the greatest insult to the buyer (and Jo Stafford) is an attractive cover with an insert that turns out to be completely blank. No dates, composers, credits--not even the uninformative generic hype that usually accompanies cheap knock-offs like those sold at truck stops. Save your four bucks for a gallon of gasoline."
