CD Reviews

Jimmy Briscoe is my Father
Crysyal J. Briscoe | Baltimore, Maryland | 12/15/2004
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I love my father's CD. My name is Crystal Briscoe and my father has a wonderful voice that the world needs to hear. He loves music more than anyone else I know. He is the best male singer of all times. If you buy the cd you will really love it!"
Wow.....So glad to find this one..

"I remember seeing the Jimmy Briscoe and the Little Beavers at the Apollo for the first time in the early 70s. I was completely blown away by their showmanship and strong voices for such young men.
I only regret that the didn't continue to record. I have no doubt that they would have proven to be mega-stars..
Buy this CD - I am sure you will enjoy it if you love the beautiful oldies from the 60s and 70s, then add this to your collection. I do wish that Brown Sugar and Why do Fools Fall in Love were included."
The clean, high tenored voice of Jimmy Briscoe....

"is featured on this cd. Some notable East Coast sweet soul recordings are claim to this group. The Jersey City, NJ based group unfortunatley never made it big, despite having a lead singer with a voice on par with almost any high tenor lead of the day, and a great producer/manager (Paul Kyser, also of All-Platinum group "First Class" fame)as their mentor, during the highlight of their career. All long term sweet soul collectors know of their classic ballad "My Ebony Princess", however Jimmy's clean tenor, when addressed to other ballads, put a quality on them that rates with the elite. "Together, We'll Find The Way" (J City Records) is a rare, sought after 45 by sweet soul collectors. The writer is only aware of two album releases with the group, with the Pi Kappa label's "My Ebony Princess" album commanding the very high numbers, if fortunate enough to locate. Japan's P-Vine label 1st reissued this album on cd in the late 80s, has long since been out of print. This cd contains the J City release, and the music from the two albums. All in all, a very good job by the reissue company (Collectibles Oldies) in reissuing this rare sweet soul & uptempo disco like music. However, do dark clouds loom overhead? Market supply has dwindled over the years, and as an early 90s release, the belief is that this cd is out of print, with remaining copies on their way out. Japan's P-Vine label is reissuing now, has yet to hit U.S. shores. Goes without saying, a must in any sweet soul music collection. Buy, before they fly!"
