CD Reviews

The album that woke up the 60's

(5 out of 5 stars)

"Are You Experienced? is a household name among the greatest albums of all time. Recorded in 1966, it has the unbelievably psychadelic title track, which is a novel of a review in itself. I don't even know where to begin with this song, but can tell you that it's my personal favorite song of all time. The rest of the album consists of various hits that we've come to know over the decades, such as Hey Joe, Purple Haze, The Wind Cries Mary, and Fire. There's so much to love about this album. Bluesy, psychadelic, hard rock, straight rock......it's all here. This album started the acid rock "movement" of the mid to late 60's. The Beatles may have had the first quirky material, but James Marshall Hendrix made that type of music bolder and more powerful. 10/10"
