CD Reviews

Great music from their early years
02/15/1999
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This is a very fine set and tells you how their music was when they first started out. The cover on This was is interesting, as they look like a bunch of old men. In Stand Up, when you open it, a figure of the band pops up, hence the name Stand Up. The disc come pakcaged in little LP seeves, which is interesting. On This Was, My Sunday Feeling and Dharma for one are great songs. Cat's Squirrel is a nice guitar song. On Stand Up, much of the songs are great. Martin Barre does great blues guitar work on We Used to Know. The strings on Reasons for Waiting are beautiful. Clive Bunker thunderously pounds the drums on For a Thousand Mothers. Nothing is Easy is a rockin song, and is loud. On Benefit, With You There to Help Me is a bit psychedelic and interesting. To Cry You a Song is a great song. Play in Time is also fantastic. And Sossity; You're a Woman is a beautiful song. Altogether, it's a great collection and well worth the money."
