(5 out of 5 stars)

"OK, so maybe I haven't gotten this CD yet (just ordered it), and you all probably hate people who review things when they haven't actually gotten the item yet, but this is a plug for Jenny's first CD, Colored in Poetry.Anyway, I love Jenny's voice, which is so smooth, complex and soothing. It's exactly like Dar Williams' voice, for those who are Dar Williams fans.Jenny's song "Whisper" is also on the Respond CD, which goes to benefit women's shelters in Boston."
I love this cd!!

"Jenny has a voice that is just lovely to listen to. She sings with such raw honest emotion when she sings "when my fears get the better of me...you can't take on the world when you're down on your knees...and I'm wearing the worries of a less-traveled road...." I feel I can identify. Her music is so personal, yet she sings of universal human experiences. And her voice is so strong and so passionate that it serves to empower me and leaves me feeling very capable in my own journey. Another of my favorites is "I Used to Think I Knew You." Her voice is sultry, and this song is reminiscent of blues songs from another era. It evokes such emotion that it leaves you feeling weak. Other favorites are "I Believe" and the title track "Bet on the Wind." This is a polished, well-produced cd that is intimate and beautiful...it hasn't left my cd player since I've gotten it."
Bet on the Wind is a good bet

"This well crafted cd is chockful of powerful emotions ranging from wistful hopes for a new love to no-holds-barred anger aimed at a former relationship... Her words seem to speak with such haunting familiarity they almost seem uncomfortably personal, the kind of lyrics that hit home with such accuracy as to inspire wonder that a songwriter can capture just how "you" feel...Jenny's voice wraps itself around her poetry, ranging incredibly from sultry and seductive that comes from deep down (I Used to Think I Knew You) to pure gossamer silk (She). Bet on the Wind goes in some new directions from her previous cds, and I have to keep reminding myself that she is really from Boston not Austin! But it all works. Her songs are punctuated with transcendent guitar chords from some of the best in the business (Duke Levine, Kevin Barry) and Stephanie Winters' masterful cello brings a lump to my throat. And kudos to the producers for complementing but not overshadowing this singer/songwriter's intent. This woman is a first class lyricist and it's time for some of her gems to be discovered and covered by other fine women singers on today's music scene so her words reach a wider audience. Her own writing notwithstanding, Jenny's sensitive interpretation of Mercy Street, with its haunting cello heartbeat, adds a new dimension to Peter Gabriel's fine lyrics, and is one of the highlights for me on this album. What more can I say except buy this cd. Except to say buy one for a friend too!"
