CD ReviewsSmoothjazz.com Review Sandy Shore | Monterey, CA | 08/16/2006 (5 out of 5 stars) "I consider myself especially discriminating when it comes to piano players. I play a little piano myself you know. Since the age of 12... Unfortunately, I'm sorry to say, I didn't keep up with the lessons (just like my parents predicted), but I remain forever fond of the instrument and the craft. So, with that biographical tidbit in mind, allow me to introduce you to a damn good jazz pianist, and to his new album, RED, HOT & SMOOTH. His name is Jay Rowe, and I was impressed with his music back when I programmed Smooth Jazz in Monterey, CA. When Jay called me out of the blue a few weeks ago from his home in Connecticut, and told me about his new project. I said, "I remember you, I liked your music then, and I bet I'll dig the new album." So he sent it to me, indeed I love it, and I'm recommending it to you. Jay's got it down, with engaging melodies, hot grooves, and sweet ballads, all impeccably performed and produced. RED, HOT & SMOOTH is a totally captivating, enjoyable listening experience. All ten of the tunes are Jay Rowe originals, and every one of them is golden. I especially like the first radio track, "The End of Summer," featuring Ken Navarro on acoustic guitars. I listen to music first and foremost to feel good, and Jay Rowe's music makes me feel real good and that's what it's all about for us music fans! ~SCOTT O'BRIEN" Andre Minoru Kageyama | London, UK | 02/19/2007 (5 out of 5 stars) "I was surprised at this performance. It is much better than I expected. Jay Rowe seemed not to be big plauer of smooth jazz so far, but I think he will be fron line. I'm looking forward to listening to his next CD." Piano and smooth jazz Dutch | Holland | 07/29/2007 (4 out of 5 stars) "Jay Rowe, keyboardist for Chieli Minucci Special EFX, plays piano and the background music is smooth. Compared to other smoothjazz albums the piano is more present."
