"A great voice, a bit of nostalgia, some of best penned rancheras, superb arrangements, and backed by some of best mariachis, complete with gritos and rechiflas of encouragement and you a have a receipe for your own personal fiesta.....ay,ay,ay yaayyyy!!! Javier Solis who left this world much to early at age 34, left behind enough memorable recordings(300),many from the 30 films he sang in, that he easily fills out this collection of rancheras. These recordings come from various times beginning in 1957 but mostly from the early to mid 60's. Javier Solis was greatly influenced by Pedro Infante and it is evident on this recordings as he belts out his renditions of such famous rancheras as those written by el immortal Jose Alfredo Jimminez. He performs one third of this collection from those great rancheras written by El Rey. His singing of "Ameneci en tus brazos" is excellent but his version of "Llegando a Ti(poco a poco) is on par with the original by Jose Alfredo. Solis croons "....poco poco me voy acercando a ti.........poco a poco la distancia se va siendo menos......yo no se si tu vives pensando en mi..... porque yo solo pienso en tu amor y tus besos" and when he sings, the words take on a new dimension, you can feel the power, songs of love have that power. The mariachi compliments his voice throughout the CD as the lingering trumpets resonate equally with the notes he seems to hold for an eternity. Javier Solis had the uncannny ability to make even the most cold of hearts feel the emotion of his voice and warm up to the feelings often suppressed but wanting to be free. The consummate bolero, Javier Solis is without doubt on a level that many have since tried to attain, a lofty goal only those with true greatness ever achieve. Somewhere the great Mexican fiesta in the sky is happening and Jose Alfredo, Pedro Infante, Jorge Negrete and Javier Solis are all taking turn at lead vocals. The great ones never die, they just leave their memories here for the rest of us to buy on CD! This is a superb collection from one of the masters of Mexican song, a collection of boleros and rancheras by the late, great, Javier Solis. If by chance you've never heard this Mexican icon do yourself a favor and join the fiesta, cultura cura."
Javier at his absolute BEST!!!

"buy this cd just for the song"que bonita es me tierra"!that is in my opinion the greatest interpretation he has achieved!this cd is unique because it features tracks not found on many of javier solis' records. While this is not the best solis compilation,it still is a must have for lovers of mexican ranchera music!"
