CD Reviews

An Old Punk

(5 out of 5 stars)

"The title should be "a great disc never found". I had this album on tape back in the day and nostalgia creeps up on me everytime I hear it(and I become more annoying). I still can't figure out why people prefer trash to good ol' solid rockin bands. These guys made me think a little differently about what great music was back when the majority of what I listened to was The Exploited, 999, The Damned, and so on. This album rages, although to look at the cover you would never know it. The good Rev. Horton Heat should take a page from these songs and remember what blown out cowpunk rock & roll sounded like in the good ol' days of Ronnie Reagan . Take a chance. Buy the disc..."

"O.k., what gives???? Most of the amazon reviews of Jason and the Nashville Scorchers albums praise the band as one of the most underrated groups of the '80's. Things like: "They're great . . . ." "They changed my life . . . ." "I named my first child Warner Hodges (even though she's a girl." "Blah, blah, blah . . . ." But then those very same reviewers go on to give the albums less than 5 stars. Huh?? Well, hopefully this review will make up for the rest of y'ouse. In short, this is their best album - If you don't own this -... I give it 26 stars. Ah, what-the-heck, in the name of nostagia, let's make an even 27 stars. Listen to the voice inside your head and buy this CD now!"
Early New York Dolls with southern accents

"Most reviews of Jason and the Scorchers music relates to the southern or country aspects. On songs like "White Lies", "Money Talks", "Last time Around" I hear the Johnny Thunders style of guitar and energy of the early Dolls."
