Synopsis

Album Description
The definitive re-issue of Jarboe's out of print 1993 album, re-mastered with six bonus tracks, presented in an oversized six-color, 16-page booklet. Jarboe, along with multi-instrumentalist Lary Seven, trills through a collection of shimmery, off-kilter pop songs. Sitar, vibes, and irony come together to create an evil, post-lounge atmosphere that doesn't have to yell to get your attention. This is the second in a series of four deluxe Jarboe re-issues on Atavistic. Includes six bonus tracks.

CD Reviews

Analog genius and charm
Nellie | 11/10/2007
(5 out of 5 stars)

"A true Lower East Side production by artists pre-gentrification. All of the recording equipment and many of the instruments on this cd were built by hand. They recorded with old ribbon microphones and refurbished reel to reel machines. The eclectic instrumentation (vibraphone, stand-up bass, toy organ, sitar ) played by Jarboe and Lary Seven is awe-inspiring.

The loops created here were achieved by stretching the reel of tape around the living room furniture. All of the recording was done live and nothing was punched-in or corrected. Part of the charm of this recording is listening through headphones and hearing a NYC ambulance or motorcycle roar by on Avenue B, Lower East Side."
