CD ReviewsAnalog genius and charm Nellie | 11/10/2007 (5 out of 5 stars) "A true Lower East Side production by artists pre-gentrification. All of the recording equipment and many of the instruments on this cd were built by hand. They recorded with old ribbon microphones and refurbished reel to reel machines. The eclectic instrumentation (vibraphone, stand-up bass, toy organ, sitar ) played by Jarboe and Lary Seven is awe-inspiring.
The loops created here were achieved by stretching the reel of tape around the living room furniture. All of the recording was done live and nothing was punched-in or corrected. Part of the charm of this recording is listening through headphones and hearing a NYC ambulance or motorcycle roar by on Avenue B, Lower East Side." |
