Synopsis

Album Description
Ponies In The Surf are quietly one of a kind. Siblings and self proclaimed indie music nerds Alex & Camile live in Cambridge, MA though they?re originally from Bogota, Columbia. The Ponies build perfect soft pop songs with elements of Samba, Beatles, the more sophisticated folk set, the Pop Vocal traditionalists and they?re very much akin to The Violent Femmes and Johnathan Richman in terms of song craft, a subtle humor and vulnerability. The Ponies' work is uniquely comforting and highly addictive. It is served with a rare passion and grace. It evokes nostalgia for the above mentioned while remaining firmly planted in its own special, almost timeless place.

CD Reviews

Complex, beautiful, and innovative music
11/19/1999
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This Athens, Georgia, group defies standard musical categories. The songs often build from a single chord to which the band adds complex layers of cello, pedal steel guitar, old 70s keyboards, found sounds, and waves of lush guitars. This music manages to be great mood music that also merits close attention, revealing all kinds of hidden gems in the many layers of sounds. This is complex, beautiful, and innovative music. I highly recommend it."
Perfect combination

"Great, great stuff....innovative convo of pedal-steel guitar/country and science/electronica. This group's from Athens, GA, I believe, and this album is great for just relaxing and chilling out"
