Jane Rothfield brings new life and spirit to old-time music, while expanding the old-time repertoire. On this album, Jane is joined by Matt Brown, Allan Carr, Paul Sidlick, Bob Taylor and others. Together they perform traditional old-time tunes and songs as well as 12 new tunes. Jane leads the way on fiddle throughout the album, while also showcasing her fine touch on the banjo and a strong, clear singing voice. The idea of this project was to replicate the experience of playing with a group of musicians who are well versed in traditional idioms and willing to let the music surge in spontaneity. By all accounts, it worked.
