(2 out of 5 stars)

"An unusual record this is. First of all, you never get the feeling that it's an original revival recording since all the songs are interpreted by Jane Pickens. A few tracks are just instrumental (Al Goodman and his orchestra) and some others are sung by The Guild Choristers, yet it's Miss Pickens who leads the band. It's quite odd that a Broadway musical has only one singer, so if somebody knows what the nature of this record is, the information will be quite welcome. Out of the 26 themes, 16 are bonus tracks (obviously) sung by...guess who? BINGO!!! These songs are very popular, such as "I Only Have Eyes For You", "Summertime" or "The Man I Love".

It seems as if all these recordings have been conceived just for Miss Pickens'grandeur. There's no doubt that she sings beautifully, although quite conventionally, as many other artists having the same style and interpreting the same kind of music: romantic, sweet, dated, slow songs, so slow that they become awfully boring. If you're not a Jane Pickens fan, this is not your cup of tea."
