CD Reviews

Not a total rip off
T. Oldfield | 03/06/2006
(3 out of 5 stars)

"It is easy to feel ripped off by this CD unless you really know what it contains. Most of the songs are remakes by Dean Torrance and the Bel-air Bandits which have been re-issued a thousand times on various discount labels. However, there are a few songs that make this CD worthwhile to the avid J&D fan. There are two actual J&D songs,"Totally Wild' and "Fun City."

" Don't you just Know it" is a song by Jan Berry and Brian Wilson! Tinsel Town,Little Queenie,That's the way it is,Sing Sang a Song, and Mother Earth are Jan Berry solo songs. All of the above mentioned songs make their CD debut on this CD!

All of the above songs were recorded after Jan's accident which is why they don't sound like the old Jan and Dean records. Again, a worthwhile CD for the avid but not casual fan.

Beware of a shorter compilation of the same name and front cover that doesn't contain all of the above mentioned songs."
Buyer Beware!!

"Beware to all Jan and Dean fans. This is not Jan and Dean on this CD. It is studio outtakes, probably Sloan and Barri (the fantastic baggys). You can hear Dean on a couple of cuts, just barely. The live takes have someone singing lead I have never heard. This is a real rip-off and I can't believe it is being sold as "JAN & DEAN". I have been a fan since the 1960's and it is NOT JAN and DEAN SINGING!!!"
