Synopsis

Album Description
Separately Jamie Hoover and Bill Lloyd have established themselves as luminaries of Power Pop during their 20+ years in music. A joint project between the two was as natural of a progression as 1-4-5. Joined by Smithereens drummer Dennis Diken, their collaborative debut is everything a fan of their previous works could ask for, with songs influenced equally by The Beatles, early Big Star, Anglo pop and Everly Brothers-styled country; in addition to the requisite big, ringing guitars.

CD Reviews

Great combination
sdewjr | CT USA | 02/05/2005
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Bill Lloyd and Jamie Hoover make a great songwriting team, with their enthusiasm for pop music and their talent for cranking out irresistable hooks and songs. Lloyd is an excellent guitarist, and combined with Hoover's vocals this disc does not have a bad song on it. If you agree that radio is not very friendly to new well crafted popular music these days, and are sick of oldies, take heart. This is modern power pop without gimmicks and that's what the world needs more of -- bass, guitars, drums, occasional keyboard -- that's rock and roll. This is well worth it, and I hope Lloyd and Hoover put out another CD in 2005."
I love the 80s

(4 out of 5 stars)

"Anyone who misses the power pop of the 1980s - esp. early Elvis Costello, Marshall Crenshaw, Tommy Keene, etc. - will enjoy this collaboration between Bill Lloyd and Jamie Hoover. One star subtracted for the somewhat disturbingly large amount of misogynistic lyrics - for a CD that was "a lot of fun" to record, was it necessary to portray women as money-grubbing, gossiping b*ches so many times?"
