Over the years, Booker played with Jerry Garcia, Aretha Franklin, The Doobie Brothers, Dr. John, King Curtis, LaBelle and scores of other artists. His song Junco Partner was recorded by the Clash. He is the subject of the award winning 2013 documentary film, Bayou Maharajah The Tragic Genius of James Booker by Lila Keber.
