Synopsis

Album Description
Legendary rapper Jadakiss, always at the eye of the storm, puts an end to five years of speculation about his new album when the aptly-titled THE LAST KISS arrives in the physical and digital marketplace April 7th. The first single "Can't Stop Me" produced by Neo The Matrix follows up to the club banger "By My Side" feat. Ne-Yo and street smash "Letter To B.I.G"f t. Faith Evans off the Notorious movie soundtrack. The new album marks the second release on the mega-successful multi-platinum Ruff Ryders label. In the midst of delivering a highly anticipated album Jadakiss has also been working on a sneaker lifestyle website as well as upcoming BET reality show. THE LAST KISS is the long-awaited follow-up to Kiss Of Death, the second album by Jadakiss, released June 2004. The million-selling #1 pop and #1 R&B album turned out a trio of hit singles, starting with "Time's Up" (featuring Nate Dogg, produced by Scott Storch); then "Why" (featuring Anthony Hamilton, produced by Havoc); and "U Make Me Wanna" (featuring Mariah Carey, produced by Storch). THE LAST KISS picks up where Kiss Of Death left off, with the albums first official single "Can't Stop Me", guest appearances by Ne-Yo(By My Side), "Something Else" ft. Young Jeezy, "One More Step" ft. Styles P., Sheek Louch, Lil' Wayne, Pharell, Barrington Levy, Avery Storm, Jasmine Sullivan, S.I, Ghostface & Raekwon . Producers on board the new album project include the Neptunes, Swizz Beatz, Eric Hudson, The Incredibles, Buckwild, Denaun Porter, Needlz, Sean C & LV, and Baby Grande. Kiss Tha Game Goodbye, the solo debut from Jadakiss, was released August 2001. On the strength of its three chart singles - "Knock Yourself Out" (produced by the Neptunes); "We Gonna Make It" (featuring Styles P. and produced by Alchemist); and "Put Ya Hands Up" - the album rose to #2/R&B and #5/pop, and went on to sell more than three million copies worldwide. Prior to starting his solo career, Jadakiss spent nearly a decade as a member of the legendary rap collective the L.O.X. (later known as D-Block), whose members included Styles P. and Sheek Louch.

"After almost 5 years of waiting (and many mixtapes put out in between) Jadakiss finally drops his 3rd solo album. FINALLY!

I could say a lot about this album, but here's the bottom line: Its still hood, but not so much. Compared to Kiss The Game Goodbye this is a much more grown up piece of work. Jada has always had a penchant for awesome lyrics, and in doing that he touches on some good topics in his verses, but for the most part dude has been straight hood with his songs with a majority of his work, and thats ok. He's still so nice with it that its actually redeemable. What makes The Last Kiss different is that he balances it all out nicely. The first 1/3 of the CD is mainly just club songs and ridin music, the middle part is more conscious, heavy, make you think type songs like "Why" from his last CD, and the last part is his more hood, grimy material. There are a plethora of star studded cameos on this CD. I think Jada is only by himself on 2 tracks out of 18. Most of them are great selections (except for "Something E.lse remix" that sucked)

A few of the songs on here could have easily been left off the album ("Stress Ya", "Something Else", "Who's Real") because they just sucked. Jada is mad nice with the lyrics, but he cant make a club hit to save his life, and thats fine. I prefer it that way. He woulda been better off with some of his mixtape material on here in my opinion, but unfortunately I'm not the one calling the shots on his music. Overall, this is a pretty good album, and it woulda been great if not for the throw away songs. 4.5/5.

"Its been 5 years since Jadakiss last album "Kiss Of Death" which gave us the hit "Why". Since then Jada has been seen on several mixtapes and guest spots on numerous projects. Now Mr. K.I.Double shot has returned with the highly anticipated "The Last Kiss"

Jadakiss past albums have suffered from what I call "Can-I-Bus" syndrome. A great lyricist with subpar production. But his albums lack continuity. The perfect marriage of Jada's clever metaphors and hit-you-in-the-face wordplay along with a stellar beat is what hip hop fans need. Without it, he and hip hop are headed for a divorce. There are times where the beats and lyrics work perfectly. "What If" ft NaS should have been named "Why Part 2". It gives you more of what you loved the first time around. "Things I've Been Through" uses a Luther Vandross sample and blends it perfectly with Jada's storytelling. You expect more from "Something Else" ft Young Jeezy. Maybe it needs a better hook. "One More Step" has Jadakiss and Styles P finishing each others bars as they've been doing since the L.O.X. Styles sounds like a hypeman trying to get his own record deal. "Smoking Gun" ft Jazmine Sullivan tells a story of a black girl lost over a cheesy beat. Good message but I liked it better when NaS did it on "It Was Written". Ghostface and Raekwon outshine Jada on "Cartel Gathering". "Death Wish" closes the album out on a high note. Lil' Wayne gives a stellar 16 and the beat is dark. Probably the best production on the album.

Mixtapes have kept Jada's street cred afloat. But his albums are sinking and on life support. He claims to be the Top 5 dead or alive. Well no matter who is on your top 5 list, they all understand that you need more than just lyrics to survive. And they all have one thing in common...at least one classic album. Learn Jada. Learn.

The last Kiss album was Better Than "The Last Kiss"

"Damn, I mean after all the hype......

And I'm a Lox fan since Biggies "Last Day". Kiss' first album is a classic to me. Joints like "Put Your Hands Up" and "We Gon' Make It". And my favorite Jadakiss song ever,"Show Discipline" with Nas. When it comes to true mic skills, some people were just born with it. Jadakiss was indeed just born with it.

His second album, "Kiss Of Death" was'nt as grimy as his first release, but it was still hot. Has a couple of club joints. Threw Mariah Careys' a** on there, you know. That was cool because of songs like "Still Feel Me" and the songs he did with Styles and Sheek, was fire and ice, as usual.

But this.............

I hate to say it, but this was a step down in my oppinion. Too much singing behind those "aight" beats, and I gotta' double check who made some of them. The song with Nas(What If) was one of the best songs on the album, and it's always entertaining to hear Kiss and S.P. trading bars.

But to be honest. Nothing special. Maybe I should listen to it sommore'.

Last time I listened to it was weeks ago and have'nt touched it since.

It is'nt garbage, but it definitely did'nt live up to the hype.

But on the same token, Kiss accomplished what he set out for.......

Commercial success. I heard a lot of people actually baught the album. (Me included)

Good for Kiss. Bad for the TRUE fans who knows what kiss is capable of.

You're better off getting that "Kiss My Ass" mixtape instead of this if you're looking simply for dope beats, and dope rhymes.
