CD Reviews

Wanna Challenge?
Paganini | New York, NY United States | 06/28/2003
(5 out of 5 stars)

"The challenge is to find a person who doesn't like at least one track on this mix. The best way to describe this cd is that it is absolutely all over the place. You just have to look at the track list to see the variety of musical styles. The same is true for some of the mixing: 1-2 is the bedroom-dj-falling-down-the-stairs, whereas 4-5 and 11-12 just have to be heard.
This is an energetic, fun and original mixed-cd from a guy going through his record collection, enjoying himself and not taking things too seriously and should definitely appeal to anyone who has more diverse taste. It isn't as technically 'clean' as the Coldcut JDJ re-release but it is as varied and due to the choice of tracks, is more likely to appeal to a wider audience. The CD only really deserves 4 1/2 stars because it does go off the boil a bit towards the end, before picking up for the last two tracks. That may be a reflection of my taste, so I will give it the benefit of the doubt.
In my opinion, the Fabric series seems to setting the standard for mixed-cd's at the moment regardless of the style of CD they produce."

"This set is awesome. Anyone that includes any remix of Royksopp's "Remind Me" or otherwise gets 5 stars. "Abracadabra", "Theme from 2001", "Sweet Dreams" - what?! The mix seamless. So far I haven't found a Fabric Live cd I don't like. This one is by far the best."
