Jaques Gauthe Swings!

"I preface this review by saying I saw Jaques Gauthe at Fritzels in the French Quarter June 2001. Listening to this is like listening to him there (well maybe in person is better). He plays the soprano sax, which sounds like a richer fuller version of a clarinet. The songs on this and his other cd's gives you the chance to hear other than the standare fare, yet accurately reflects the New Orleans Jazz scene. I have been to the French Quarter many times, and I like the Dixieland/traditional jazz sound found at many of the clubs. Solos are not as intricate as other jazz forms, yet the playing of the group is. I bought other cds from him, yet I sought this out because I needed more. Get his San Francisco Feetwarmers where he does songs of one of his old time jazz favorite, Bechet."
