CD Reviews

Jacqueline François

(5 out of 5 stars)

"Jacqueline François I love you! First Lady of French songs I give 5 stars. Like a light bodied wine, this album is easy listening. Pour a glass of wine, wrap yourself in your lovers arms or the imagination of your dreams of the young girl in search of love under Paris Skies. Sentimental moods Pour Lui, Un jour tu verras, La fille d'lpanema (Girel from Ipanema), Le ciel, Les fueilles mortes (Autumn Leaves), Est-ce ma faute, Le paradis perdu, Verlaine, La valse des lilas, favorites to let yourself get caught up in the heart beat of Paris with her rhythms of waltz and French life. Experience Paris and more as she sings Mademoiselle de Paris. All this and more there is 22 songs on this album.. A good buy."
Une chanteuse extraordinaire!

"A wonderful collection by this marvelous singer. One thing I appreciate is that the songs are entirely in French. I would rank Madame Francois with Liane, Piaf and Mireille Mathieu as being representative of the French cafe style. While not all of the selections are French originals, I found them all enjoyable. Cases in point are Bilbao Song (which apparently has French lyrics by no less than Boris Vian)and a French version of "Where have all the flowers gone" on track 12. Not to mention, track 6 is a French version of the orignal Portuguese of "Girl from Ipanema." Brava!"

"This CD is really outstanding. Jacqueline Francois's voice is as beautiful as ever and I have listened to her since 1955. Relax and enjoy."
