"I was hooked on Jackie Leven after giving 80's Scottish band Doll by Doll a listen in 1980 or so. Since then, I've tried to pick up every piece of work by this great lyricist with one of the most distinctive voices in rock. It's a booming bass/baritone that can also soar into falsetto, and changee from a whisper to a roar. The tunes aren't as immediate as some of his DbD work, but the haunting atmosphere is strong as ever, and this really is a beautiful album. From what I can gather, Leven has produced a spurt of new material recently, of which this is the only album available in the US apart from imports. It takes several listens before you start to begin to feel that you know the tunes - there are so many levels to them.Jackie: it's great to hear you're back"

"This my favourite Jackie Leven record, but how do you pick one? One of the great British voices and songs that seem to hit home everytime. How many singer-songwriters do you know that can make you laugh and cry on the same album. He's in my town (again) this Saturday, can't wait!!!!"

"My first CD from Jackie Leven was "The Mystery of Love is greater than the Mystery of Death" (Cooking Vinyl 1994). After this really great CD I bought every CD I could find from Jackie (luckily there are some more available in Europe)."
