"This 4 CD box set consist of a variety of styles over several decades of French popular music. There are the high octave seventies numbers of Enricos Macias nestling alongside the smoky laid back tones of Francoise Hardy. There are several rock and roll numbers popular in rural Franece throughout the sixties. Such as "Twist a'St Tropez" with Dick Rivers doing a passable Elvis Presley. One of my personal favourites has to be Richard Anthony's version of "Cest ma Fete" (or its my party) with his impeccable diction and tongue in cheek ribadly. Its hilarious no question that you will want to sing along. The 3rd Cd takes on a different tone because it includes the influences of French West and North Africa bands. I was not familiar with these particular African bands before I bought this collection. They deserve to be be more widely known. The entire box set is of a very high standard."
