"This is more than just the "fast and clean" playing alluded to in another review. Hii shows a genuine feeling for the music of Bach, making the most of the more reflective moments as well as the (sometimes extended) passages requiring stunning technique. He combines all this with quite a bit of scholarly erudition--he has some very interesting ideas about the evolution of the final piece on the disk. There is nothing stuffy or academic about the playing, though. Hii hits all the emotions nicely as well. He deserves a wide audience anywhere fine guitar playing is appreciated. Too bad this remarkable performer hasn't yet received the recognition he deserves."
