CD Reviews

If you're a fan...
John C Thomsen | Houston, TX United States | 08/01/2000

"I guess it's individual tastes, but if you prefered Motown to the British invasion, these guys are for you. The band unfortunately peaked early with "Full House" and most of the recordings later on were fairly uninspired, including the few top 40 hits of the 80's. This collection however is worth the money if just for two of the songs: "Dead Presidents" and a studio version of "Where did our Love go?" I originally found this CD on a close out rack and unfortunately was lost due to a car break in. Glad to see I can get here. Good listening."
A must have Sampler At A bargain price!

"This flashback release of J Geils "Looking For A Love and Other Hits", is the absolute best sampler available for the novice, who is just looking for a short concise collection at an unbeatable bargain price. This is vintage J Geils prior to the "Centerfold", "Love stinks", era. Total rock n soul that put this band on the map. Powerful studio cuts like "Must Of got Lost", "Looking For a Love", "Give It To Me"' "I Do", and "Where Did Our Love Go", were tunes that were played constantly on FM album rock stations back in the early seventies. J Geils was known as a knock you out live band, and included here are some really high octane live cuts like "Whammer Jammer", and "House Party". This was Peter Wolf in his absolute rockin prime, and J Geils never sounded better then this vintage time in their careers. If you like J Geils, and have been meaning to pick up a cd of their early hits, you can't go wrong with this best-buy bargain, that is loaded with all the tunes that one needs to hear by one of rock n rolls best party bands."
