I heard this Andean Peruvian group playing music in Cambridge, MA and was so enchanted, I had to buy one of their cds. When I asked the leader of the group which best expressed traditional music of Peru and the Andes, he recommended this one. It's very delightful instrumental music, primarily but not entirely wind instruments. It's bright, lively, rhythmic. This cd focusing on traditional Andean music of Peru, Ecuador and Bolivia contains 10 different numbers, including The Flight of the Condor, Virgins of the Sun, and San Juanito. The 10th piece Cumbias is not attributed to a particular nationality but described as "Four Upbeat Latin Rhythms".
