CD Reviews

WOW!

"Oh, my God. Let me say that again... Oh, my God. Got this Cd on a whim, tossed it in the stereo and was IMMEDIATELY mesmerized. Cool, smooth swing with a jazzy undertone that really makes you stop and listen. Sweet and sexy, type of music you have to turn down the lights and sit on the couch with a brandy snifter in one hand and a cigarette in the other. Johnny Boyd? one of the most talented voices that I have heard in a long time. Real velvet that one... If you like swing, jazz, or just big band sound... GET this CD! A definate must to have on your rack."
It feels so good!

"Just think of the color Indigo and you have an idea of this album. Cool, smooth, deep, and beautiful! Just straight good swing and jazz without all the clutter you find in most neo-swing albums. It's a must buy for any music lover!"

"A year ago I wrote a review of this album saying, "Pick it up third." Time has passed, and I have a slightly different outlook on it.Indigo Swing was my favorite of the swing comeback era. Outstanding (reserved, confident and colorful) vocals from Johnny Boyd, and a killer-smooth swinging rhythm from the rest of the band. Pianist William Beatty rolls out some sock-offing solos (check "Flip Flop and Fly" - the right hand flies while the left keeps rocking his standby G bass line!). The brass section is good, but as a piano player, I'm biased. "Reet, Petite & Gone" and "My Baby Just Cares for Me" are stand-outs also. This album delivers as far as good, solid swing songs. My only complaint is that it feels more like a collection of stray Indigo Swing tunes than a cohesive album. If you're new to IS, get hooked on "All Aboard," move on to "Red Light!", and then top it off with this.4 1/2 stars + 1/2 subjective tilt = 5 stars"
