Subject: I have found a CD that I think you would enjoy

"This is one of few CDs which have Imrat Khan doing what he does best, that is playing unaccompanied alap on his great surbahar. Imrat has picked favourite ragas, the sound is fantastic, and Imrat's technique on the difficult instrument is at its best with shakes and bends all over the neck and LOTS of playing in the lowest octave. The presentation of two shorter pieces back to back reveal the degree of truth to the saying that Imrat Khan gives each raga the same treatment; fortunately for this CD, Malhar is the one raga where his treatment works best, and perhaps he has modelled his approach on the way he learned the Malhar raga. Even on a calm, sunny day, when you listen to this rendering of Malhar you can hear in your head the storms and see the clouds gather."
