2010 two CD set containing a trio of albums from the Hard Rock vocalist. Naked Thunder, recorded in Olympic Studios and other UK studios in 1990, was the effectively the first to be issued simply under his own name. Co-writtten by guitarist Steve Morris, the album also features drumming legend Simon Phillips. Toolbox was recorded in 1991 in Battery Studios in Willesden, with production by Grammy-nominated Chris Tsangarides, best-known for his work with Judas Priest, Anvil, Gary Moore, Thin Lizzy, Helloween, and Yngwie Malmsteen. Toolbox is regarded as Ian's hardest album, and is his first not to feature a keyboard player. Cherkazoo is a musical that Gillan started with Roger Glover and worked on, on and off, throughout the early 70's, a charming and quirky collection of songs that looks back to the baroque, psychedelic British pop of the late 1960's. Its very existence was once the Holy Grail of Purple/Gillan fans the world over.
