Lost in a Different Bed
Lee Armstrong | Winterville, NC United States | 06/29/2008
(3 out of 5 stars)

"British singer Ian Babington's "Communication Overdue" is an independent release. He sings with his acoustic guitar backing him. Babington's great limitation is his vocal instrument. He's mostly listenable, but his voice does require some tolerant adjustment from the listener. On "To Be With You Always," there is a tremble in his voice as he sings full of emotion, "I love the sun for how you light up in the morning; I love the way you come alive." His songs have a direct lyrical approach free of frills like metaphors and simile as on "Chocolate," "Woke up to find my head lost in a different bed; So don't know where it lead or what was sinking." His melodic approach is not overly individual, but creates a pleasant sound. "Learning To Fly" is one of the more memorable tracks, "My feet leave the ground; So you look to the sky; But I'm over the clouds, I'm learning to fly; Your smile hits my eyes & that's all that I need." "Communication Overdue" is a good release for those who want to support independent music from our friends in Great Britain. Enjoy!"
