If you don't know it, take a listen. Does it remind you of the Beatles' 'Lady Madonna"? That's because John and Paul loved 'Bad Penny Blues', especially the riff at the beginning.
There are plenty of other good tracks on the CD; my next favourite being 'St. James Infirmiry'. Trivia: The tracks including the names Wally, Turner, Pickard, etc, refer to his three main sidesmen; Wally Fawkes, clarinet; John Picard, trombone; Bruce Turner, alto sax. Fawkes, with help from Humph, drew the comic strip 'Flook', under the pseudonym 'Trog'." |
