Good disc & my 1st introduction to Mr. H. Laws

"As to say I admire Hubert Laws' playing ever since I been a fan to him since 1997. He sure is one of my fav. people I inspired and influenced growing up in Jazz incl. all types of music like Classical and Rhythm-and-Blues. He's truly an inspiring inspiration, hero, teacher, legend, mentor, and Musical Genius 2 those that wanna pursue the dream of being a great jazz playa.



As to say the 1st two albums I got introduced to him are that and 1976's ROMEO AND JULIET (such a good & hot album w/ alot of flava from the brass, to the strings, everything).



Ok back to the recording, once I was listening to this, I notice a variety of different kinds of music that's played on there: Latin, jazz, pop, classical and mostly sum flavored R&B IMO. It has feature guests incl. his brother Ronnie, George Duke, Joe Sample, John Patitucci, Ndugu, to name a few. All the songs are outstanding but my fav. has to be track 4 "Shades of Light" be'cuz of the flows and introduction from the band and Hubert himself playing all flutes (i.e. flute, alto flute, bass flute & piccolo). Such a great song. Kinda reminds me of jammin' into Henry Mancini, Miles Davis, Duke Ellington, Quincy Jones, etc. while growing up.



As to say this a must if u luv jazz or actually luv flute players like Dave Valentin and Herbie Mann (RIP), whom I got introduced back then and admire listening to since day 1."
