Synopsis

Album Description
Fats was on tour with southern California buddies the Paladins, considered to be some of blues and rockabilly's most dynamic performers. The Paladins consisted of singer/guitarist Dave Gonzales, high school pal bassist Thomas Yearsley and drummer Brian Fahey. This amazing CD swings, shuffles, rocks and embeds itself into a stone-cold groove as this fiery guitar wizard tears it up with a relentless barrage of tasteful, white hot guitar nuggets. It's Old School Texas style House-Rockin' Rockabilly meets Swingin' West Coast Jump Blues, played by an elite combination of musicians resulting in a performance that is nothing less than stunning.

CD Reviews

There's much better Fats out there!
Standard Poodle | 07/24/2008
(2 out of 5 stars)

"I love Fats - so this was a huge let down. This is sub-bootleg quality at full price. Yes the performances are good, but there are REAL sound problems. Fats' guitar often is warbled as if in a non-musical tremelo sort of way. Sadly, the songs are sped up: Sidetracked in Ab; Hideaway in F. An instrumental that sounds like Okie Dokie Stomp comes off cartoonish due to the sped up tape. This could EASILY have been fixed. Hey, I enjoy bootleg quality as I look for the performances, but at full price this is just not worth it. Hopefully some folks with better quality tapes of Fats/Paladins shows will do it right."
Despite sound, a historical recording

"Yes, it was expected the sound quality would be sub-par, and that is why it took until the revived interest for this recording to be released. The two most interesting tracks were Fats originated instrumentals, and that is why this recording is of interest."

"I love fats too and have all he's got available, sure this is bootleg quality but better than most bootlegs I've heard..the quality is enough that it's easy to enjoy the long jams he delivers in every song. the guy was amazing and that is apparent here "LIVE" no holds barred jams...theres TWO songs really arent great but for me the others make this a worthy buy for someone who has all the other disc's.. for you "FATS" fan's,, of course you're gonna buy it & you will enjoy having him alive and playin for you again..not sorry I bought it at all MR.Poodle dog..."
