Synopsis

Album Description
Hickey was a band, a political movement, a naked cult and an uncomfortable force to be reckoned with. They were only here for a little less than three years but the mark they left on the San Francisco bay area and DIY punk in general can still be felt. The UCLA Daily Bruin placed Hickey right along side such diverse bands as Nirvana, Radiohead, U2, They Might Be Giants, and Wesley Willis as the greatest artists of the 90's. This, Hickey's first album, is the first of three full-length Hickey records to be released on 1-2-3-4 Go! Records. Bringing their work and vision in to the new century and in to the hands of the legions of people who never had a chance to see Hickey whole they were around but were none-the-less touched and inspired.

CD Reviews

The greatest band no one has ever heard

(5 out of 5 stars)

"This is a phenomenal punk rock album that very few people have had a chance to hear. Words will not do it justice. Even the term "punk rock" is not sufficient because Hickey is so much more than just punk rock. Yes it's lo-fi and has the speed and aggression of punk rock, but you'll be surprised by the uniquely accomplished musicianship and songwriting. The seamless flow of the songs and the humorous yet creepy sound bites give it a unified feel. Many thanks to the label for re-releasing this classic album. When is "Various States of Disrepair" coming out?"
